For dehydration-prone skin that feels tight regardless of how much cream you layer on, the Torriden DIVE-IN Low Molecular Hyaluronic Acid Serum delivers five molecular weights of hyaluronic acid in one fragrance-free serum — saturating every layer of the stratum corneum that single-MW serums leave dry.

The ingredient story

Hero ingredient

Five-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid complex (5D-HA)

Concentration

Five HA forms layered at deliberately different molecular weights — Sodium Hyaluronate (medium-MW, surface hydration), Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid (low-MW, deep penetration), Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate (mid-MW, longer residence), Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer (high-MW, 5x normal water binding via mesh structure), Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate (ultra-low MW, deepest penetration). Supplemented with madecassoside, panthenol, allantoin for calming.

How it works

Single-MW HA serums saturate one layer of skin and miss the others. The 5D approach matches HA species to depth — ultra-low-MW penetrates to the basal layer, mid-MW holds water in the upper stratum corneum, high-MW crosspolymer stays at the surface forming a hygroscopic mesh. The combined effect is plumping at all depths simultaneously, which single-MW serums approximate only with multiple applications. Madecassoside and panthenol layered in support calm any humidity-driven sensitivity from concentrated humectants.

What the evidence shows

Multi-MW HA approach is well-evidenced in cosmetic chemistry literature — see /ingredients/hyaluronic-acid for the underlying mechanism review. The Torriden formulation has been independently tested as effective at increasing skin hydration immediately and at 4-week marks in Korean cosmetic chemistry reports (2023). Award-winning product (Olive Young, Glowpick, multiple cosmetic-chemistry publications).

On very low-humidity environments (winter UK indoors with heating, or air-conditioned offices), HA can pull water from skin rather than air — always apply to damp skin and seal with moisturiser. Otherwise universally tolerated.

The brand

Founded: Seoul, 2017Known for: Becoming the K-beauty hyaluronic acid reference brand. DIVE-IN line — toner, serum, cream — is the most-recommended Korean HA range in Western markets via TikTok dermatologist content 2023–24.

Philosophy

Single-active, high-concentration, fragrance-free formulations for sensitive Korean Gen-Z. The "Torriden" name combines Korean characters meaning "to be in the right place."

Torriden launched in 2017 as a Korean indie focused on Gen-Z sensitive-skin shoppers tired of fragrance-loaded mainstream Korean skincare. The brand bet on a single hero ingredient (hyaluronic acid in multiple molecular weights) at meaningful concentration in a minimalist alcohol-free formulation. The DIVE-IN line broke through Western markets via TikTok in 2023, with the Low Molecular HA Serum becoming one of the most-frequently-recommended Korean serums by Western dermatology content creators. What kept the brand relevant past the initial spike is that the products are genuinely well-formulated for their target — dehydrated, sensitive, barrier-prone skin — at sub-£20 price points. Torriden's broader range has since added cica, peptide, and barrier complexes, but the DIVE-IN Low Molecular HA Serum remains the anchor product and the entry SKU for new customers.

Where this fits in your routine

Routine step

Serum — step 4 after toner/essence, before moisturiser, applied to damp skin

Apply 2–3 drops to clean, just-toned, slightly damp skin. Press in with palms — do not rub. The "damp skin" instruction is non-negotiable for HA serums because humectants pull water from the highest-humidity environment available; apply to dry skin in dry air and they'll pull water from below.

Morning: cleanse → toner → DIVE-IN serum (on damp skin) → niacinamide or vitamin C → moisturiser → SPF Evening: double cleanse → toner → DIVE-IN serum (on damp skin) → retinol or other actives → moisturiser

Layers especially well with: snail mucin (apply HA first to damp skin, then snail to seal), niacinamide (HA → niacinamide layered fine), peptides, ceramide-rich moisturisers (AESTURA, Dr.Jart+ Ceramidin — HA pulls water in, ceramides seal it).

Avoid: layering with strong acids on the same step (low-MW HA can carry acid deeper if applied simultaneously — wait 10–15 min between AHA/BHA and HA).

Pregnancy-safe.

Pairs especially well with

What real users say

My skin used to feel tight after every cleanse no matter what serum I used. Two weeks on the DIVE-IN serum and that tightness is gone. I have repurchased four times.

Reddit r/AsianBeauty, 2024

I had been using a £45 HA serum from a Western brand. The Torriden does the same thing for under £20. The texture is lighter and the multi-MW approach is genuinely a step up.

r/SkincareAddictionUK, 2024

Best HA serum I have ever used and I have tried at least a dozen. The five molecular weights are not marketing — you can feel the difference in plumpness within minutes.

Texture / feel

Lightweight watery-gel that absorbs into a slightly tacky finish in 30–60 seconds. Faintly cooling on damp skin. Fragrance-free with no detectable scent. Layers cleanly under any subsequent product. Does not pill under sunscreen, which is the most common HA-serum complaint solved.
